YUCCA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA - MAY 14-20, 2025 - 
JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

From Lake Tamarisk, Desert Center, CA we traveled to Yucca Valley and stayed at Desert Drifter RV Park for 6 nights.  We chose this place for its close proximity to Joshua Tree National Park.  We were able to enter Joshua Tree NP while we were in Desert Center (from the south), but wanted to go back for a better look.  We are glad we did - traveling the park from the North to the South was much more interesting.

Desert Drifter RV park was nothing much to speak of, it looked like a parking lot turned into a RV park.  They did have a pool, recreation room & laundry/showers, and also full hookup sites.  The location was ideal though.  

As you can see - a very small place right along the roadway.

We were in site 10.  It served our purpose, wasn't really busy and was close to Joshua Tree and some other walking trails in the area.

Joshua Tree National Park is one of our favorites.  The trees are so cool, and look like something out of a Dr. Seuss book.  They go on for miles.  Joshua Tree National Park straddles two distinct desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado.  



As in most National Parks, dogs are not allowed on the trails.  They must be leashed and no further than 100 ft away from the road.  We were able to get out of the car and stop in certain areas to get a closer look at the trees, and the boulders!

I did not expect to see enormous boulders in the park.  They certainly are a site to behold and I think I appreciated them a bit more than the Joshua Trees.  I have this affinity toward rocks, boulders, and mountains.  I am just drawn to their forms, colors and textures.  The size of the boulders is massive.




The weather was beautiful and we were glad we got to take our time and drive through the whole park and experience so much natural wonder.

While in Yucca Valley we also made a hike up North Park Peak.  The trail was relatively easy, but it did get pretty hot!



It has been so wonderful to see so many National Parks, flora and fauna and we are looking forward to visiting more.  

Our travels will take us through few stopovers as we head through California.  Castiac, California here we come (just for a couple of nights).

CLEAR SPRING - TEXARKANA, TX; CLEAR LAKE - PRINCETON, TX & LAKE MURRAY CAMPGROUND - ARDMORE, OK Between Feb. 20 and March 13 we traveled to Texarkana & Princeton Texas, and to  Ardmore, Oklahoma.   In Texarkana we stayed at Clear Spring Campground which is at Wright Patman Lake.  The park is beautiful.  Our site has a great view of the lake.  While in Texarkana we went to    Spring Lake Park.  There is a lovely lake to walk around and there are many ducks, geese & swans roaming about.  The park has playgrounds, a fenced dog park, and acres of wooded areas with picnic tables. We drove into downtown and saw the US Post office that sides on the border between Texas and Arkansas, walked around downtown and took pictures of multiple murals that adorn the sides of so many buildings.  Drove by the Ace of Clubs house, which is built in the shape of the Ace of Clubs. GRAND CANYON, WILLIAMS, AZ - APR 18-23, 2025

One of our most anticipated stops was the Grand Canyon.  We booked a stay at the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, in Williams, AZ.  It is a nice park with the train that runs from Williams up to the Grand Canyon.  There is also a hotel there.  Downtown Williams is just a short walk up the road from the hotel & RV park.  A quaint downtown with lots of shops. Drove up to the Grand Canyon, about an hour drive.  The anticipation was growing.  Once we walked the walkway up to the first viewpoint - I cried.  There are no words to explain the beauty, the massiveness, and the awe of the Grand Canyon.  I realize while there we only saw a portion of this beautiful place.  Hopefully, one day, we'll get to see more.  At the time we were there the North Entrances were still closed due to snow. ANTHEM BREWING & FOSS STATE PARK, OKLAHOMA - MARCH 13-21, 2025

HARVEST HOST - ANTHEM BREWING COMPANY, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK One of the best things we did when we started our journey across the US was joining Harvest Hosts.   Harvest Hosts is a network of farms, wineries, breweries, distilleries, golf courses, and community hosts that invite RVers to stay overnight, giving members safe, convenient and unique places to stay during their travels. The only thing that they ask is that you patronize their establishment.   Our first stay at a Harvest Host was Anthem Brewing Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. We enjoyed the variety of beers they had on tap. They allow dogs in the taproom, so Lottē and Dixie had a great time. Everyone loved Dixie and she got lots of attention. Lottē is a mama's girl and, although she likes the attention, she pretty much clings to me. We were to stay one night at the brewery but high winds and a dust storm were predicted.  High profile vehicles were advised not to travel.  We stayed another night. ...
