SIERRA BLANCA BREWING COMPANY, MORIARTY, NEW MEXICO-APRIL 2, 2025

SIERRA BLANCA BREWING COMPANY, MORIARTY, NEW MEXICO & ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO - APRIL 2, 2025

After leaving Art City we drove to Moriarty, New Mexico to stay overnight at the Sierra Blanca Brewing Company.  It is a Harvest Host location, so we were able to stay overnight for free, and just spend some money at the brewery.

When we walked in there was a small room with a few tables that were occupied by locals.  We chatted them up a bit and talked about our travels so far.  Everyone seems to be impressed that we decided to get on the road and go.  There is a Beer Garden at the back that is both "inside and outside."  The roller doors were closed as it was windy, so we enjoyed the warmth of the inside table and Dixie & Lotte were welcomed as much as we were.

They have pretty extensive beer options.  Check them out here.

Steve & I each got a flight of 4 - 4oz pours.  I tend to like Hefeweizen, wheats, ales and stouts.  I tried their Dos Hefe Double Hefeweizen, it did not disappoint.  I enjoyed the spices and smoothness of the beer.  One can taste vanilla in the brew.  Next was their Alien Wheat.  It was very velvety with hints of orange and coriander.  Again, one of my favorite flavor combinations.  Reminded me of Blue Moon beer.  Nut Brown Ale was next.  Can we say, "Guinness"?  It reminded me very much of that Irish beer that I love. It wasn't bitter and had that chocolatey, coffee, nutty flavor.  But my favorite was their Pecan Beer.  It was amber in color light and refreshing, the pecan finish really sold me on it.  I had to get a pint to enjoy!

Steve's choices are usually much different than mine, he chose the American Lager, Pilsner, Outlaw Lager and also the Pecan beer.  The American Lager was typical, crisp, smooth and dry.  Their Pilsner had a sharp hop bite, but didn't leave a strong aftertaste.  Their Outlaw Lager was amber in color, had a malty flavor.  Easy to drink.  He enjoyed the Pecan Beer, just like I did.  His favorite was the American Lager and he enjoyed a pint before we left.

We were allowed to take food in so we mixed up our own bar mix of nuts, pretzels, cheese crackers & the like.

Luckily, we only had to walk to the parking lot to spend the night.

Some pics of this fun brewery.

No, we did not let Lotte drink any beer!

Next stop, Albuquerque, New Mexico and meeting up with a dear friend.

Tally Ho!
